The Name Was Always Going to Lead Here

When your last name is Steed, horses end up meaning something to your family whether you plan it or not. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. Not exactly horse country. My sister took riding lessons an hour away while I tagged along with a bag of treats to feed the horses.

Then I met my partner Josie. Her family are team ropers. Raising and training horses is a core part of their culture. After a decade in that lifestyle, I understand this industry from the inside.

But I come from a different world too. I spent years as a marketing consultant, responsible for over $20 million in revenue for my clients. I had to produce results in competitive, technology-driven environments. Now I bring that same thinking to equine businesses.

Why "Advisory"

I grew up watching my father advise business owners through some of the biggest decisions of their lives. He sold over 500 companies in his career. What stuck with me wasn't the deal-making. It was how he thought about businesses. He could walk into an operation and see what actually mattered, what was noise, and where the real value was hiding.

That shaped how I think about everything I build. Most agencies treat a website like a deliverable. I treat it like a lens into how your business actually works. What decisions are your customers trying to make? What's getting in the way? Where is real value being lost to friction, bad process, or just not showing up where people are looking?

The word "advisory" means something specific to me. It means I have to understand your business well enough to tell you what I'd do if I were in your position. Not just hand you a website and wish you luck. That's the difference between a vendor and a partner. I'd rather build fewer things that genuinely matter than a hundred things that look good on a portfolio.
